The PPBNKLS is looking for individuals with a creative flair to design an original piece of work that embodies and promotes the Peranakan culture and heritage.
The Peranakan culture is set apart by its unique mix of ancient Chinese culture with the local cultures of the Nusantara region, the consequence of a long history of transculturation and inter-racial marriages. While Peranakans who have Chinese ancestry are more common, there are also small communities of Indian and Eurasian Peranakans. And indeed the Peranakan traditions and cultures are practiced not just in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, but also in Thailand , Australia and some parts of Europe.
The Peranakan culture is rich and complex and if you think you have the creative flair combined with the inspiration to showcase this unique culture, this is the competition for you. There is a share in a prize pool of RM1,800 that will be awarded at the end of the competition!
GOOD LUCK!
